Overview

Please Note: The keeper may be black or the same color as the bridle.

The Zilco Snap-On Trail Bridle offers easily removable bridle portion that can be used in conjunction with the Zilco Halter or with a rope halter to create a halter bridle combination that is perfect for the trail!

The portion of strapping that wraps around your halter measures just less than 1" when the material is snapped closed and lying flat. Standard one-inch wide web and leather halters will be too wide to secure safely in the snap. We suggest a lighter weight, less bulky halter for your horse's comfort, as suggested in the halter links above.

New and Improved! After many years of testing and rider feedback, Zilco has transitioned their entire line of tack to quality, maintenance-free Stainless Steel Hardware. With 1/2" strapping, lighter hardware and a streamlined design, this tack line will help lighten your overall weight, while maintaining the excellence that Zilco users know and love.

Details

  • Stainless Steel Hardware Won't Rust
  • Makes Removing the Bridle Easy
  • Easily Adjustable
  • Low Maintenance

Additional Information

Care Instructions: Zilco is incredibly easy to maintain, you can Simply clean in a bucket of soapy water, rinse, and hang to dry.

Technologies:

Zilco began in 1962 as a small factory in Sydney (Australia), making lightweight racing products from revolutionary synthetic materials.  Zilco's famous synthetic strapping is made from specially woven webbing that is coated in a co-polymer.  This strong strapping retains its flexibility over a large temperature range and has great resistance to abrasion, tear and cracking.  The strapping will not wick moisture like other synthetic materials so the coating won’t split or open.  Wonderful ease of maintenance you will appreciate.

Sizing

Size Browband* Bit to Bit Strap Width
Standard/Arab 14" 28"-40" 1/2"

Sizing:

Zilco's "Standard/Arab" size measures smaller than an average horse size and will fit more petite horses, like an Arabian or slightly larger. Zilco's "Full/Oversize" size measures significantly larger and is best for standard or larger horses. Both sizes are highly adjustable. For proper fit, please use the Bridle Measurement Guide or your horse's current bridle to compare to measurements above.

Please Note: Browband is measured as piece that lays on forehead, not including the length to attach to the crown piece or halter.

Best headstalls EVER!I exclusively ride all of our horses in the Zilco snap-on headstalls because they're the simplest piece of tack equipment ever; you just put it on over a rope halter! They fit a wide variety of horse heads/conformations, and the colors look great on everyone (plus, I love color coordinating their Zilco headstall with the rest of their tack). You can easily adjust them to the proper size with different horses or quickly swap bits as needed. These are super lightweight, wash up really well, do not irritate the horses, and are a win-win across the board!

Already fadingI expected better, got it in orange and after one ride I washed it and left it outside to dry. There are already large fade marks from the sun. I have had several biothane bridles before, none of which have faded. After noticing the fade on this, I looked closer at the material and it doesn’t seem to be real biothane. It looks to be a cheaper material at the same price. It’s nice and fits my horse well but I wish the color was still vibrant like my awesome horse!

Comments: I have been eyeing this bridle for some time and finally gave in. I'm so glad I did! I have an Arab who fits a pony bridle plus uses a hackamore, so it's been difficult to find something that goes small enough - this one does! I LOVE it. We went with the hunter green and its gorgeous! And because she has a smaller head, the 1/2" strap works perfect and doesn't look too thick for her. Will totally be buying more in other colors in the future!

Comments: Absolutely love the Zilco brand! I have been using a free inexpensive headstall lately, but it was giving my horse rashes from the brass. So, I'm coming back to Zilco for their looks and quality! This will be #3.

Comments: I love my Zilco snap-on headstall - so convenient to use on the trails or at home over a rope halter. I first bought this to help with bridling an ear-shy mare, so she could keep the halter on and give me some control while adding the headstall. Worked like a charm, and fits everything from my ponies to my horses. Very adjustable!

Comments: I love that the Zilco Snap On Deluxe Trail Bridle Headstall is now available in different colors. I often use it with the Zilco Halter or it works great with a rope halter.

Comments: I have had my light blue Snap-on since 2003 and I love it!! I has fit my QH and Rocky Mountain mares like a glove! the color has a standout on the trail and at events! I just give them the website and my friends new and old love them!! Best tack ever!

Comments: Awesome headstall for trail riding in the Pacific Northwest and keeping in horse trailer tack room.  Minimal maintenance.  Love the color choices, my black Missouri Foxtrotter looks awesome in purple.

Comments: My absolute favorite and preferred headstall!! Fits my Arabs and even fits my big 16-hand Appaloosa! I like for each horse to have their own and in their color so I don't have to adjust things. These are durable, affordable and look great! THANKS!!
From: Karen B - Parma, ID, USA

Comments: This trail headstall is just wonderful. It fits my Arab perfectly. I use it with a rope halter. I just love how easy it is to put on or remove as needed but you still have your halter on your horse at all times. It very well made, easy to wipe clean, and the price cannot be beat!
From: Jennifer - Burnsville, MN, USA

Comments: I love Zilco products in general, but the snap-on bridles are awesome! I have 2 of them and would be lost without them! High recommend for anyone!!!!!
From: Olivia - Viroua, WI, USA

Comments: Zilco products are very well made and hold up nicely to the rigors of endurance riding. The colors stay true and the bridle cleans with mild soapy water.
From: Lory - Rhode Island, USA

Comments: This is the best bridle for trail riding.  Fits comfortably over & snaps to a rope halter.  Lightweight, durable & easy to clean.  It has fit all my horses from 13.3 to 15.1 hands, with more room for adjusting the size.
From: Rapid Fox Rachel - Queen Creek, AZ, USA

Comments: I love mine! light weight and so easy to clean! I've had mine for 6 years and would not go on a trail ride without it.
From: Debbie - Hopkinsville, KY, USA

Comments: Love it, it's a no fuss no muss bridle. After my dog(he's thirteen and is destructive as a teething puppy and has the appetite of Godzilla)broke my heart and ate my bridle, my first bridle the one I had to practically break my dad's arm for,and after that I felt I couldn't handle another incident like that again, so I decided to go synthetic. I had seen this bridle before and I liked the idea of it, I ride with my halter no matter what unless I'm showing (which I haven't in couple of years), and it works out great. I didn't worry too much about the size because my fox trotter has a weird head - so small so he can fit in to cob and Arab sized things but he's got a 51/2 inch mouth which means find a bit is kinda hard.

Comments: My absolute favorite headstall! So handy and easy they are all I ever use anymore.
From: Karen - Parma, ID, USA

Comments: Love that it snaps over a rope halter.  Seems to fit a wide range of equine head sizes - don't be fooled by the "Arab" label.  This fits my 16.1h Anglo Arab just fine.  The OS would have been too big.  Easy to care for and looks great!
From: Michelle - Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Comments: This bridle is awesome! Love how it snaps on to the Zilco halter or a rope halter as well. I got it in purple and I love the color and the material!
From: Rebecca - Kimbolton, OH, USA

Comments: Am glad I found this item! So easy to get on and off at vet checks, and my horse is much happier with this setup than the halter bridle with bit hangers.
From: Vicki - Alberta, Canada

Comments: The standard size was too small. The oversize was too big. Need one that's just right. My 15.2 hh AQHA with a cob size head is in-between sizes. The standard would have fit my donkeys better. Who specs the sizes for these things?
From: Mary - Tecumseh, MI, USA

Comments: This is a nice product but I prefer the halter bridle combo over this one. The snaps work pretty well but don't seem secure enough for me, especially if a horse rubs its head on a a tree or something.
From: Phoebe - Durango, CO, USA

Comments: I have loved this headstall design for many years now. I think my oldest one is 8 years old and still looks superb. However as I put my new set together I realize the new ones are now a narrower material. I liked the heavier wider zilco better, I suspect this narrower style will not distribute pressure over the poll or be as durable. I guess only time will tell. The breastcollar is narrower as well - a bit disappointing when the styling is superior. I would rather have it be a bit heavier and durable and cost a bit more than have the company (not Riding Warehouse the seller) cheat on the materials to hold the price down. Not unhappy just an observation and something to think about for future purchases. :)

Comments: I had ordered one of these snap-on bridle headstalls a couple of years ago in light blue. It is very nice, love the way it works, so when I needed another one in red, I happily ordered it, in red. The one I received is very nice, but, it does not have the black keepers on it as pictured, or like the light blue one I have. The keepers are all red, and while it is nice looking, it does not look nearly as good when appointed in black. I know I could send this back, but I have already waited a while to get it and am using it for training my new mare and don't want to be without a bridle for her again, so will just keep it. It just doesn't look as sharp as it would if it had black keepers. Very well made and love the simplicity of cleaning it.
