Horse sizeWay too big for my Arabian, so I had to return it; however, it was nicely made.

Comments: I bought this head bumper in preparation for a new filly's first trailer ride. It's light, flexible, and low profile, but maintains impact protection. It's a bit of a circus getting it on an antsy 16hh Thoroughbred (it fell to the ground multiple times; operator error) but the loading anxiety ended up with zero injuries thanks to this bumper. In her tantrum she managed to bonk her head on the door and on the trailer walls but didn't feel a thing. Amazingly, the 3 hour ride loose in a short ceiling trailer ended without a single traumatic incident. Considering the equine nature of self destruction, I say it's a win! I'll be using this religiously from now on.

Comments: This product is worth its weight in gold. I consider it an absolute must for my program. It is light, stable, and protective. Also, it is not too hot for summer use. I usually have a high-spirited and green endurance prospect that I introduce to trailering solo. They don't have the benefit of going into an open stock trailer or traveling with a buddy, so it is an anxious experience for them, especially going through busy urban areas and LA area freeways. It is asking a lot of a young, inexperienced horse to get into a high, narrow, slant-load by themselves and invariably there are instances where pulling back anxiously or trying to back down the ramp. This terrific product has spared my horses' heads from very hard impact with the heavy metal frame of the trailer. Basically, it can prevent a concussion in case of a loading mishap or worse, a vehicle collision or rollover. I use this product in tandem with the Blocker Tie Ring. I've tried the Cashel poll guard but it is very poor functioning as it flops to one side and attaches very poorly.
