Going strong year 4I have a green horse. This vest fits like a glove. The picture looks wrong. It fits under sport coats and my duster. I've been tossed front back left and right. Each time no broken bones and no bruising. Tossed over rocks and my bottom wasn't covered, but where the vest is there is no pain. I'm an experienced rider and will always wear a vest.

Comments: I originally purchased the Tipperary vests but did not like how flimsy it felt, especially for the price! Originally, I wanted the Charles Owen vest but found the Ovation be similar in build at a fraction of the cost. I have only worn this vest in the winter so far, so I can't say much at how hot it will get during the warmer months in Southern California (it did keep me warm in the cold rain!). I truly feel protected while wearing this vest, I would rather sacrifice style over protection.

Comments: I bought the child's version of this vest a few months ago after my husband got thrown off and broke his back--it made me wish he had been wearing one of these. I'm 5'6 and 140 lb. Turns out the children's XL (or maybe it's just a Lg, I don't remember) equates to the Adult XS and is very adjustable. In fact, when I'm not wearing it, I can adjust it to fit my 12-year-old step-daughter and her scrawny friend. I chose this one over the Tipperary that my mother-in-law bought because the padding is thick and I feel like it would absorb more impact if I took a nasty fall. They do get hot, but you can always dress accordingly.
