Ingredients:
Bentonite (bowie type clay) and a proprietary extract of witch hazel bark and leaves with Arnica montana, Rosmarinus officinalis, Lavendula officinalis, Lobelia inflata, and sodium borate.
WITCH HAZEL
- Scientific Name: Hamamelis virginiana
- What It Does: A by-product of the distillation of the leaves and stems of the plant. This hydrosol, or floral water, is a natural astringent and tonic. It relieves irritation and discomfort due to minor cuts, scrapes, abrasions and insect bites. It has a lower alcohol content than rubbing alcohol therefore making it less harsh than alcohol based products. It has anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory qualities which makes it an excellent ingredient in liniments, toners and lotions for sensitive skinned animals.
ARNICA
- Scientific Name: Arnica montana
- What It Does: Arnica is known to stimulate blood circulation which flushes out inflammation and speeds healing to an area. It works by stimulating the activity of white blood cells that perform much of the digestion of congested blood, and by dispersing trapped, disorganized fluids from bumped and bruised tissue, joints and muscles. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities that can reduce pain, swelling, and improve the potential for quicker wound healing. Arnica in the raw plant state is considered to be toxic and can possibly induce vomiting, weakness, increased heart rate and nervous disturbances. If ingested, it should always be done so in a homeopathic preparation only; meaning none of the original substance is present to be absorbed. Topically it is safe to use and animals rarely experience an allergic reaction to the plant.
ROSEMARY
- Scientific Name: Rosmarinus officinalis
- What It Does: Rosemary is beneficial to both hair and skin and was traditionally used to help alleviate muscle pain, improve memory, and boost the immune and circulatory systems. Topically, it is revered to stimulate hair follicles to grow and encourage circulation to the area which, in turn, encourages hair growth as well as flushing out of toxins in that area
LAVENDER
- Scientific Name: Lavandula angustifolia
- What It Does: Lavender is known topically for its soothing, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antiseptic, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. It also has antispasmodic, and analgesic properties. Widely used for muscle aches, rheumatism, arthritis, bruises, rashes and insect bites. Lavender oil is one of the most well-known essential oils in aromatherapy
LOBELIA
- Scientific Name: Lobelia inflata
- What It Does: Lobelia is used topically for its muscle relaxant tendencies. It contains depressant properties which helps the autonomic nervous system and muscular system relax. The tincture of the herb can be used externally to help alleviate sprains, bruises and various skin conditions.
Previous Feedback
Comments: This is the best poultice I've ever used! You can feel it cooling hot spots as you apply it. It draws heat really well and I love the fact it's all natural with essential oils, no chemicals. My mare loves it too because she runs to the gate everyday for me to apply it. She got photosensitive in her white legs, not only did the sore no more poultice cool her legs but it took down the swelling, covered and protected her legs in the daytime when our Nevada sun was at its hottest. I keep it in my barn at all times.
