I really wanted to like these...I really wanted to like these but they fell apart immediately. They fit nice and snug, I loved the design, and my horse moved out well in them, but after only a few minutes of trotting down a smooth flat surface, the stitching connecting the rubber sole to the fabric upper dissolved entirely and they fell apart. Riding Warehouse accepted the return. Maybe I just got a bad pair but I won't be repurchasing. For $200 I expected better.

EasyCare EpicsThis is long but if you are out there desperately searching for a good dependable long lasting hoof boot maybe it will help someone. I do suggest when taking your measurements to contact EasyCare before buying from Riding Warehouse ( the most awesome place to buy anything horse-related). Riding Warehouse is an EasyCare dealer so EasyCare is happy to help you get the correct size and then you can buy from Riding Warehouse. I am a big long time fan of Riding Warehouse because of their amazing customer service and great products with excellent pricing. I’ve used the Easycare Epics for a mule many years, on front and back feet. Fitted properly and taken care of, they stand up to hard use and stay on in mud and rocky terrain. I am careful about the heel bulbs of my mule's feet so as not to crowd them in a boot and cause heel pain. The Epics are great for hard to fit hooves be it mules or horses. I remove the heel strap to ensure there is ample room with no rubs or pressure. It does not effect the boot staying on, it still stays snug on the hoof. I made a special tool to lift up the latch when removing the boot. Also, I always fold back the gaiter and don’t use it to pull the boot on. I’ve got a pair that has over a 1000 miles on them and are still great boots with no problems. I use EasyCare Glove 50's and back country on my other horses and mules. I use a filler to give frog contact in the boot and got this idea from EasyCare videos. It works really well. I’ve used other brands of boots and always come back to EasyCare. I am so very pleased that EasyCare still makes the Epics that are one of the original EasyCare line. If you have a hard to fit horse or a mule the inside of this boot will work better than other boots to grip the hoof because of the cable system hardware. You can also use them without the gaiters. I ride rough country without trails with lots of sand, rock, and deep mud. I like the soft gaiter for how it protects and still keeps debris and sand out. This is a long review and hopefully it will help someone looking at the different choices in boots. Also all the parts on the EasyCare boots are replaceable, and the rubber of the boot itself is long lasting and not affected by heat or cold like some boots on the market. The Epics may seem harder to put on, but once you get used to them you will not need to worry about losing them on the trail or in a mud pit with snakes around so they are worth it. They are what I use on rear mule hooves that tend to be closer together in the rear than most horses. The Epics work well for the rears to stay on and not interfere with the movement of the opposing hoof, and that’s a big deal on a gaited mule.

Surprising problemI have used Epics for years on my mare. She has feet with zero flares. I tried Epics on the rear feet on my friend's mare and she tore a gaiter. It was an old boot so I was not overly worried. I ordered a new boot for her and within 3 miles the boot shell was gone and all that remained was the soft part of the gaiter around her fetlock. The stitching had failed. I have had gaiters tear in the past but they were old and well used. Easycare and RW were notified and the boot fell within 45 day warranty so they are processing a refund. My take is they probably aren’t the best choice for a hoof that wants to flare.

Easyboot Epic is easy and versatileEasyboot Epics are our go-to for both wintertime trail rides, when our horses are barefoot on half-time training because of winter weather, and as an emergency boot. We can make an Easyboot Epic fit a variety of similarly hoof-sized horses with a few simple adjustments, such as taping the front of a clean hoof and/or slipping a pad in the bottom of the boot. This allows us to ride in wet, rocky terrain while protecting our horses' feet. We do have to exercise caution in deep, sticky mud. If the mud is high enough to get into the top of the boot, even when fitted snug, they can come off at higher speeds. Dry or wet, these hoof boots have proved no problem!

Previous Feedback

Comments: I bought these boots to replace an older set of Easycare Epics and the new version does not fit my horse as well as my older boots. The screws on the sides dig into his hoof, and the gaiters are at the wrong angle so they can't be velcroed snugly. I will sadly be returning them.

Comments: These boots are easy for me to put on my horses (have arthritis in my hands) and hard to take off (a good thing because they don't come off when I'm riding my horses, even in very rough rocky country or sucky mud.) They are lasting a long time, too. I use them for conditioning and competing. My Paint horse's feet have improved significantly now that he can stay barefoot except when I ride him.

Comments: These are my "emergency spare tires" when I do endurance rides.  They are a bit more forgiving than easyboot gloves, as you can adjust the tightness of the cable.  I have had trouble with the buckle breaking in very rocky terrain, but easyboot has a fabulous warranty and has replaced the buckles and cables when I have had problems.
