Click Horse Hock Shield Hock Protector Boots Pair
Overview
The Click Horse Hock Shields are a custom-fit cushioned hock protector designed to stay in place to prevent and heal hock sores. If a horse has a hock injury or bed sore, repeated lying down can aggravate the area and prevent healing. Some sores just become larger and/or deeper. The healing process cannot take place unless a protective layer is placed between the ground and the skin.
The soft, flexible pocket in the center back of the Hock Shield provides comfort in the delicate area where the tendons pass just under the skin. A plush fleece lining offers comfortable full coverage in the areas that horses most commonly develop sores.

Comments: I bought these hock boots and they stay on, and they protect the hocks, and they do not make rub lines. I had purchased the more expensive ones made by the same company and they stretched out and only lasted about 3 weeks. These are much better.

Comments: My little Arabian has bed sore abrasions on his front fetlocks and points of his hocks, despite 24/7 pasture living. I ordered the regular horse size as he measured 13" which is at the small end of the size range. For my horse, these stay on about 50% of the time. So far, most mornings there is one still up on the hock and the other is around the hoof, being walked on. I do wish they came in bright colors so they would be easier to find in pasture. They do stay on when he gallops, bucks, rolls, and walks around. I am not entirely sure how they come off each time, but this weekend, directly after I put them on, he crossed his back legs and methodically pushed his left hind hock protector down off the hock using his right hind leg. They do seem to be machine washable and can be put in the dryer as well, as he makes them quite dirty. The material holds up very well considering that it is functioning as a hoof protector for at least par of the night. They stay on well enough that the hock sores are healing very well and I will probably buy another pair.

Comments: These were miracle workers for my warmblood! Was gelded at 22 and is VERY studdy still. Kept getting hock sores from messing with his neighbor. These are roll proof as well!! Which was huge. Never came out of place and they are so easy to wash, just throw them in the washing machine and they come out brand new.

Comments: We are traveling with our horses out west. The ground is hard and rocky and my horses have been suffering with bleeding sores on their hocks and shins for months now. I found the hock shields and am thrilled with them. They have stayed on and their hocks are starting to heal. I highly recommend this product.

Comments: Comments: I bought the regular style over 3 years ago and they have worked great! They hold up really well and wash beautifully. I just bought another horse and decided to try the Ultra version and it is even better! Very pleased with this product, as the ground in our pasture is very hard during the summer months.

Comments: These have solved my horse's hock sore woes! I couldn't keep sores clean because he would just lay down again outside (not in his nice cushy stall, of course!) so set out for a solution. Worth the money! In my opinion, be 100% sure you've measured correctly - fit is everything! Don't get them too tight or they will rub. My horse is young and likes to buck and run in his paddock. These generally stay on! They are easy to clean - soapy water at the barn or throw them in the washing machine - they've held up well!

Comments: I do like these hock boots for my draft-cross horse who is in a boarding facility with a gravel run. He does not get bedding in his stall so he gets pretty bad hocks sores on both hind legs from the rubber mats & gravel. In the 5 days he's had these Hock Shields on, the sores appear to be healing. However, he lays primarily on his right side, and that hock boot slides 180 degrees when he gets up, and is out of position until I can get out there again to fix it. Not ideal at all. Looking for a solution, or will have to send them back.

RW Response: We always want to ensure that our customers are fully satisfied, which is why we offer a Free Return Shipping and a no-questions-asked 365-Day Return Policy! If you are unhappy with the performance of the standard Hock Shields, return them to exchange for the Hock Shield Ultra - this is a full-coverage design to help protect against turning.
Comments: wouldn't be without them. Crusher paddocks are great for drainage but not so great for a thin skinned horse. We battled hock sores continuously until I found these Hock Shields. Once she started wearing them, we got ahead of the existing wounds and have NO issue with new ones. Great durability - they stand up to a lot of punishment and wash up wonderfully. I have done with one pair for almost a year but have ordered 2 more to rotate and ensure I always have them on hand. Have also shopped around and Riding Warehouse is the place to buy them - great price and unbeatable customer service! Thanks ladies.

Comments: Not cheap but an excellent product. I have these for my gelding who gets terrible sores on his hocks when rolling or lying on hard ground. I've got a tack trunk full of other types of hock protection that slip down around the fetlock within minutes of putting them on. But these stay put! Sturdy, stretchy and they work. Buy an extra set to have on hand. My horse goes through two or three pair each year.

Comments: My horse has Navicular and so she lays down a lot. Her hocks were getting really sore and she didn't want me to touch her on her hocks. I tried different hock protectors and they wouldn't stay on. I found these by surfing the internet. All I can say is Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, her hocks are starting to heal and she is more comfortable we apply medicine to them. I would highly recommend these to any horse owner. Again thank you so much and my horse thanks you also.

Comments: I had high hopes for this product (as my 17.3 mare gets hock sores from the hard ground), but Hock Shields failed miserably. The product does NOT stay on. Save your money!

RW Response: Oh no! We're bummed. We want all of our customers to be happy with their Riding Warehouse purchases and we know Shari (owner at Hock Shield) would want the same. We attempted to locate this customer record to find out how to rectify the apparent fit issue. Be sure to watch and follow the helpful fit video (at left) and use a proper measuring instrument (soft tape) before making your purchase.
Comments: I measured and tried size large, but they did not stay on. So, I bought size medium, but they don't stay on either. I'm out a hundred dollars and my horse still has "bed sores."
